Measurement of the thermal diffusivities of insulating materials using boiling water

We present a method and corresponding experimental setup for estimating thermal diffusivities of insulating materials. The consists boiling water container placed on heating plate; the test plate is atop container. Under this condition, both steady transient input-response temperature characteristics are measured. find that in its state causes nearly stable at one side plate. However, condition reached only after an initial period. Rather than using either or behavior response exclusively analysis, we show potential by combining observations with subsequent theoretical optimization analyses. proposed do not require any prior estimation other parameters. All necessary information, including diffusivity, can be estimated from only, as here.
